Almost four years ago, I was asked to make a remix of this by a friend who I'm about 90% confident was joking. I rediscovered their suggestion in late 2020 and decided to actually do it. I'm not particularly attached to the Sonic universe--I loved Sonic X as a kid but I'm not even sure if I've beaten a single game in the franchise. But I still admire some of the characters, and happy hardcore is one of my favorite genres so I actually liked the style of the original track already. My goal was to modernize it while still paying tribute to that 1990s era of happy hardcore it embodies. With the original already being in that genre, calling my bootleg a "happy hardcore remix" is a little redundant, but regardless I haven't made it in a long time, so revisiting it for this project was super fun!

After isolating the vocals from the original I knew I didn't just want to place them in the track plain, so I decided to use a vocoder to give them a weird spin. They're less intelligible, but I liked the sound so I decided to take that sacrifice. Plus, it's not like the lyrics were grammy-worthy writing anyway. I figured it could still be amended with on-screen lyrics in the YouTube video. Thanks for listening! The original song is admittedly ridiculously silly, and the idea of me remixing it has been a joke for a while, so I thought it would be fitting to upload for April Fool's Day. Because this is a bootleg remix that heavily samples the original track, it's not able to be licensed for store distribution this time, so no streaming services.
